Contributions to the Susan C. Luby Scholarship Fund In memory of Susan C. Luby, a Girls Inc. founder and devoted advocate for the Carpinteria Valley’s girls. Susan Luby believed that all girls – regardless of their financial situation – should be able to access the wonderful enrichment programs that Girls Inc. offers. It is Susan’s legacy that no girl ever be turned away because of a lack of funds, and therefore Girls Inc. is able to “make up the difference” and ask families to pay only what they can reasonably afford. Contributions to the Ralph Brown Memorial Mortgage Campaign In memory of long time friend and supporter Ralph Brown, who with his wife Betty devoted years of volunteer service and leadership, and helped to procure the purchase of the land where Girls Inc. of Carpinteria’s facility exist today. During the final days of his life, Ralph Brown made a significant gift to kick off a campaign dedicated to paying off the Girls Inc. mortgage. Monthly Inspiration Club Our monthly giving program is the easiest way to donate to Girls Inc. of Carpinteria. Each month the amount you choose for your gift is charged to your credit card. The Monthly Inspiration Club provides Girls Inc. with dependable, year-round resources, and since it has the lowest administrative costs of any method of giving, it provides the most benefit for our programs and girls. To sign up for our Monthly Inspiration Club, please contact Pam Knitowski at 805-684-6364 x25 or pam@girlsinc-carp.org Give a Gift in Honor/Memory of Someone You may give a gift in honor of a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, or in memory of someone who has passed away. This can be done at anytime. You may also choose to ask friends or family to honor you in this way (by making a gift in your name to Girls Inc.). To give a gift in honor or memoriam via check or money order, please send your gift with the name or names of the individual(s) being honored as well as the name and address of the person(s) who should be notified to: Girls Inc. of Carpinteria Sponsorship Girls Inc. has a variety of opportunities for individuals or businesses to directly sponsor a girl or program. For example, you could “adopt” a girl by covering her program expenses and field trip fees for a pre-determined amount of time (about two-thirds of our girls come from financially disadvantaged families). Or, you could sponsor one of the many exciting programs that Girls Inc. offers, like woodworking, cooking, drama or volleyball. With planned giving, you can achieve personal and financial goals while leaving a legacy that will benefit the only organization in the Carpinteria Valley that offers all-girl programming, giving girls a variety of opportunities that do not exist elsewhere! A planned gift is a gift of capital, which unlike your annual gift to Girls Inc., is not usually made from your current income. Planned gifts can be given immediately (such as a gift of stock), or deferred (such as a bequest or life insurance policy). We would be delighted to discuss your planned giving options. However, we do encourage you to contact your attorney or financial advisor first to obtain information about how planned giving will affect your specific financial situation. Congress just passed legislation that allows individuals to make tax-free from your IRA. To benefit you must be at least 70 1/2 and it applies only to IRAs. The law is limited to $100,000 in 2007. Employer Matched Gifts Many companies match employee gifts to the charity of your choice. Please check with your company’s Human Resource Department or Personnel Director to see if they have a matching gift program.
